10x14, Watercolor, NFS

Painted with my mixed Paynes' Gray: Cobalt Blue and Ivory Black, varying the proportions for the clouds and the water. Initial paper was very wet. First stokes were added wet-in-wet. Waited for the paper to dry a little before adding distant hills and then the foreground spits of land. And the tree was painted when the paper had dried, with splatter for the leaves. Added Burnt Sienna for a little added color in the foliage, hills and foreground. I again tried not to go over anything (except the foreground where I added darks and accents).. Not quite there yet. Watch this space for a new version. Arches 300 pound paper. I'm anxious to try gum arabic that I've ordered. The granulation will be more pronounced. I added the reflections on the left too soon and lost the quality of the original layer of water in that area. I tried hard to save the whites. At my family's San Diego home, selected by the family from a series painted during the winter of 2022.(gift to family)
