15x22 (half-sheet), Watercolor, NFS

Part of my 2022 watercolor seriies to see if I want to return to watercolors. Initial paintings have not captured the freshness I would like.. But this one is beginning to get there though it's overworked. Fortunately the 300 pound Ardches paper can tak a beating. Painted from a photograph taken near sunset across Lake Murray. The complex of buildings comprises an interesting variation of shapes to paint . They include the water towers and the building housing the filtration pipes. The intent was to capture the shadows formed by the setting sun. The tower (Alvarado) itself is of Spanish Colonial architecture. Details are not delineated completely in this watercolor (yet). The Waterworks is closed to the public but I went up to the back gate and took additional photos.
