View of the Sandia Mountains from Albuquerque at sunset. Water-based oils (Cobra) with brush and palette knife. The first wash was thin (water plus oil color). Then the paint was applied more thickly with a palette knife, with a brush used at times.
Water-based oils (Cobra) with a thin wash at beginning. Brush and Palette knife used throughout. View of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains from Santa Fe (abstract). As the name indicates they blush red at sunset (blood of christ).
Painted "en plein air" during the 2018 Santa Fe Plein Air Fiesta Paintout Competition. Location: Ghost Ranch Education Center parking lot. The clouds began to roll in while painting the cliffs facing east. Then I turned around and saw this scene. I had to paint it! So I began a new painting.
